"that's why I love listening to somecallmewale."

presented without further comment.
It would feel wrong to debut this series with a piece covering anyone other than somecallmewale.

[First off, congrats on the new release broski - still slaps like the first time I heard it!!]

somecallmewale - NOT THAT DEEP

For those who aren’t familiar with somecallmewale's work, allow me to introduce him as one of the most talented musical minds I have the privilege of knowing - a rhythmic rapper, cultured producer, meticulous sound engineer and great friend. Despite following him for a number of years, I still struggle to neatly categorise Wale's musical style and releases to date - and it doesn't really matter. Wale’s confidence in his skillset is such that he can bring his ideas to life and execute them with a consistency which synergises his discography, with 'his sound' shining through regardless of genre. There’s little he puts his mind to that he isn’t very good at - and he puts his mind to a lot of things.

One day soon, I’m sure we’ll tell the funny story of how we became friends, but not TODAY! One important thing I will share is how much of an influence he’s had on my fledgling music career. He was one of the voices I trusted and consulted when working out what kind of artist I wanted to be as we exchanged demo after demo, sharing our ideas and new song concepts. He’s had a direct hand in 3 of my 6 releases to date, producing my song ‘MOSCOW’ and engineering ‘BAYERN CELL’ and ‘thx’ - not to mention the countless other projects we’ve yet to complete, one of which we performed together last year. Though I look forward to eventually locking in and getting those releases over the line, he has lots to keep you busy in the mean time.

Whilst I wrote this, I realised that to describe Wale’s music is to describe Wale - playful, charming, intelligent…and very layered. Though not everybody reading this will ever meet him, just 10 minutes with his track list will teach you of his love for anime, Bollywood, and beautiful women - among the rest. As such, listening to his music is kinda like hanging out with him - albeit with less laughter and more bass.

And that’s why I love listening to @somecallmewale!
